Description   Beautifull, handcrafted ceramic mermaid posed atop a Florida conch shell with other shells at her feet on the beach. Quite colorful! Colors may vary, quality does not The artist, Ellie Stephens grew up on Sanibel Island, Florida. Ellie has always been an artist, drawing and painting. It was a car accident that started Ellie on her journey with clay.  In the accident Ellie severely injured her hands.  To strengthen her hands, Ellie began clay therapy, beginning just holding and pressing into the clay with her fingers.  Ellie began her professional clay work in 1993 making the clay mermaid hooks and coffee mugs. Ellie has continued to evolve her art and has a variety of different mermaid pieces, mirrors, lamps, and ornaments. Each piece is unique in itself as it is hand crafted. Ellie recently added wedding cake toppers of mermen and mermaids couples.
